About

The Acme County Historical Society is a fictitious organization. This website was created in to aid small historical societies and museums in website organization and design as well as internet marketing.

The digital assets come from a variety of places but most notably the Acme product illustrations were created by the talented Rob Loukotka at Fringe Focus. There is nothing like a skilled illustrator for your branding and illustration needs. Logos, historic tour maps, etc...

Much of this web site's organization, structure and indeed, even text is pulled from the Wanda Gág House website. An excellent website designed by RV Tech Solutions and one folks can look at and study for good ideas on how to design clean, well organized, a user friendly website.

The Media Room is based on the media room created at Blue Earth County Historical Society. I can count on one hand how many media rooms I have seen on local historical society web pages. Fortunately Blue Earth County Historical Society not only has one but they have a good one.

The website itself, was built using the free Google Sites web page-creation tool from Google. Knowing the budgets of small history organizations, "Free" is usually a good word. Google Sites makes it fairly easy to create a site, no programming or design skills needed (although finding someone to help with some knowledge of HTML and design would be very advantages). After claiming (renting) the domain name "acmehistory.org" I was able to link it to my Google Site and create a custom URL at no cost.

Additionally Google offers GSuite for Nonprofits a free service you should look into for your organization if you have not already. In addition to getting a suite of tools for your organization you can create custom email addresses like info@acmehistory.org or roger@acmehistory.org or jessica.rabbit@acmehistory.org.
