Discover the real-world saga of rockets tied to Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote in the Acme Rocket Exhibit. This collection features important historic objects used by Wile E. in his relentless attempts to catch the Road Runner, demonstrating the blend of invention, hope, and often misfortune behind these devices.
The exhibit includes the ACME Little Giant Do-It-Yourself Rocket-Sled Kit, a hands-on model that inspired early rocketry dreams. View the ACME Rocket Cars, sleek and fast vehicles powered by rocket technology. Experience the quirky ACME Rocket-Powered Roller Skates, which offered speed but not always control. See the famous ACME Rocket Sled, a key piece in many chase attempts. The exhibit also highlights the visionary ACME Space Rockets and the innovative ACME Solar-Powered Rocket, showing Acme’s range from ground-level gadgets to imagined space travel.
Explore how Wile E. Coyote trusted these rocket-powered devices in his schemes, reflecting a long history of human fascination with speed, flight, and the future. Learn how each product combined real engineering ideas with fantasy, and why they often failed, shaping the ongoing chase as much as the desert landscape itself.
Visit the Acme County History Center to see these artifacts, learn the science and story behind each rocket, and understand their place in a world where determination meets invention in the quest to catch the fastest bird alive.
